Basic knowledge of GFRC
Glass fiber reinforced concrete is basically a concrete material, which is used to strengthen glass fiber as an alternative to steel. Glass fiber is usually alkali resistant. Alkali resistant glass fiber is widely used because it is more resistant to environmental effects. GFRC is a combination of water mud, glass fiber and polymer. It is usually cast in thin sections. Since the fibers do not rust like steel, the protective concrete coating does not need to prevent rust. Thin and hollow products produced by GFRC weigh less than traditional pre cast concrete. The material properties will be affected by the concrete reinforcement spacing and the concrete reinforced filter screen.
Advantages of GFRC
GFRC has been developed as a popular material for a variety of applications. Using GFRC has many advantages, as follows:
GFRC is made of minerals and is not easy to burn. When exposed to flame, concrete acts as a temperature regulator. It protects the material fixed to it from flame heat.
These materials are lighter than traditional materials. Therefore, their installation is fast and usually simple. Concrete can be made into thin sheets.
GFRC can be cast into almost any shape around columns, wallboards, domes, wires and fireplaces.
High strength, good toughness and crack resistance can be obtained by using GFRC. It has a high power to weight ratio. Therefore, GFRC products are durable and light. Due to the weight reduction, the transportation cost is greatly reduced.
Since GFRC is internally reinforced, other types of reinforcement may be complex for complex molds, so they are not required.
The sprayed GFRC is properly mixed and consolidated without any vibration. For cast GFRC, it is very simple to use roller or vibration to realize consolidation.
Good surface finish, no gap, because it is sprayed, such defects will not appear.
Because the materials have fiber coatings, they are not affected by the environment, corrosion and other harmful effects.
